Comments: This trail takes a different approach to the aspect of viewing the Ko'olaus. Instead of looking down from the summit of a Ko'olau trail, this trail looks up at the summit from the base of the mountains. It also starts from the Pali Lookout ...and finishes off in Waimanalo, which is 10 miles one way. But today we went from Waimanalo to the Nu'uanu Pali.

It's rare to have the place to yourself, but Maunawili Falls is definitely a must see if on vacation. If you want less people or No people, start your hike at sunrise. Whether you simply want to sit and watch the waterfalls, or brave the cool waters and go for a swim, this waterfall hike is another gem. For the more daring, there is also ledges above the waterfalls that locals like to dive from into the pool below.
