Nani Nuʻuanu i ka ua Līhau
Kilihune i ke oho o ka palai
I laila ku`u lani ʻeloʻelo
Ua pulu i ka huna wai ōhelo

Hui:
Ei aku nei paha o ka lani
I ke kui lei ka makahala
Wili ʻia me ka ʻawapuhi
Onaona i ka lau naʻenaʻe

Lamalama e ke kino o ka lani
Wehiwehi i ka liko ākōlea
Ilihia i keʻala anuhea
He mau he moani ke pili

Beautiful is Nuʻuanu in the Līhau rain
The fine drops that fall upon the fern
Have wet my heavenly one to the skin
Drenching with drops from the trees above

Chorus:
The heavenly one will soon be here
To string leis of ka makahala
Entwining them with ginger
And perfuming them with naʻenaʻe leaves

Bright is the appearance of the heavenly one
Adorned with the buds of the ākōlea
Imbued is she with their cool fresh fragrance
So cool, so sweet as they cling to her
