Beloved is the land of Hana
Land of beauty and peace
The winding road
That leads down to Hana
Welcomes visitors

Chorus:
This is the first time I saw for myself
The beauty of Hana
And there is no other that can compare
With the beauty of Hana

So beautiful with its breezes
So gentle and pleasant
Oh how glorious you are!
Majestic is Kaʻuiki standing there
Adorned in the mist of the sea spray

Chorus:
This is the first time I saw for myself
The beauty of Hana
And there is no other that can compare
With the beauty of Hana

Told is my song
Of the beauty of Hana
Oh famous is your name!
So beautiful with its breezes
So gentle and pleasant
Oh how glorious you are!

Chorus:
This is the first time I saw for myself
The beauty of Hana
And there is no other that can compare
With the beauty of Hana

Aimoku, Kepoʻo Kaleo or Kaleoʻolaeanuikaumanamana V, Kealiʻi’s great-great-great-great grandfather, was married to the grand daughter of King Kekaulike. Her name was Kuihewamakahawai or KUIHEWA III. This song reflects not only the people of Hana, but the magnificent beauty as well. Translated by Kealiʻi Blaisdell, © 2008, Kealiʻi Blaisdell
